On July 18, 1966, an elderly Indian monk formed a Hindu organization in New York that he called the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)--better known as the Hare Krishnas. Open the gallery to see photos of New York's Hare Krishnas celebrating the movement's 40th anniversary with a parade down Fifth Avenue and a festival in Greenwich Village, not far from where ISKCON was born.
