September 13 (NY Post)--Mel Gibson, who is producing a movie about Christ, slammed the Vatican and said he doesn't believe in the church as an institution anymore.

Calling the Vatican "a wolf in sheep's clothing," the devout Catholic, who rigorously supports the Latin Mass, apparently believes the church has become too liberal.

"I believe in God," he told the Italian newspaper Il Giornale. "My love for religion was transmitted to me by my father. But I do not believe in the church as an institution."

The 46-year-old he-man has a private chapel at his home in California, where every Sunday a service is conducted in Latin.
