Jesus called us to pray for the world and those lost in the world. In 1 Timothy we are urged that all supplications “prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Why pray for the lost? Well, this is God’s heart, and mission. God’ wouldn’t send His own son to die on the cross for no reason. It was done to atone for man’s sins in a fallen world. God’s loves his creation and desires all come and return to Him.
Jesus came to save man not condemn him, and this is all men. The workers are few during the harvest, which is now.
Ask and pray that God will use you to become involved in the harvest. We can pray God will open up the eyes of the blind and soften the heart of those who are not open.
Pray scripture over yourself and others. Ephesians 6:19-20 says to “Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”
Pray for confidence and that the Lord will speak through you. This can be an act of service, encouragement, or a special Word from God.
Try fasting for the loss. When we fast it helps us hear clearly from the Lord, and it strengthens us spiritually. It’s a spiritual battle. Don’t think this will be easy. The enemy works hard to keep people’s heart hardened. So put on your own spiritual armor when going into prayer. Make sure you are built up enough to take the storms or any attacks.
Don’t give up. Sometimes we can’t see it, but there is movement in the spirit world when we pray. Keep pressing on. God is faithful.
I found this prayer online and there are many more. Try this when praying for the lost, and for loved ones. “Heavenly Father, I bring before You one who is very dear to You and me, ______. I have come to see that Satan is blinding and binding them in darkness. They are in such a condition that they cannot will not come to You for salvation on their own. I draw upon the Holy Spirit that He may guide me to pray in wisdom, power, and understanding.”
