We can’t let the devil break us. He loves to torment us and is pretty good at tempting us into sin. We can see this in the Garden of Eden. He has nothing to do but drive us crazy as he is mad at God for casting him out of heaven. The enemy still desires to remain supreme above God. So when attacked by depression, hate, anger, division, addictions, murder, and all of those nasty thoughts that come into the heart and head--it is the devil. Since he can’t get to God, he goes through us working to destroy the earth and the human race. Totally, obsessed with getting back at God, it seems we’re in the cross-hairs of this war to separate us from Jesus. He lost that fight as well. The enemy told the Lord as recorded in Job. “And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, “From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” There is a thief and he sneaks up on you, so watch, pray, and be alert!

Who is the Devil?

Who is the devil? The devil was once beautiful and was full of beauty and wisdom. His name was Lucifer, meaning “Day Star.” And the Bible said: "God dressed him in the finest jewels and placed him on the Holy Mountain. You were in Eden, the garden of God--every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared. You were an anointed guardian cherub.” The devil stood with God and decided he wanted to be above his creator. God said, "no," and kicked the the devil out of heaven to earth. No wonder he hates us! So it has been a battle ever since.

An Angel or a Devil?

We know this, but we need to really apply it to our daily lives. The devil lies and is very crafty, he will use people or mask things to make it look like it is from God. So test everything against the Word. "For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness."

He Uses Good People to Deceive

The devil wants you to hear his voice to hide God from you. He is a liar and there is no truth associated with him. This can be spoken through other believers in Christ. We all are vulnerable to these ploys, if not careful. “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it,” it says according John 8:44. So he lies that God does not love you by working on the mind and emotions through people. How? He will bring evil people or even well-meaning people to hurt you. When this happens we question God’s love for us.

The devil accuses us so we will denounce God. This happens through circumstances, news, and people who don’t want to believe in the Bible.
