Still dealing with the pangs of lust and human desires, Augustine finally cried out to God. He describes a gentle voice that followed coaxing him to take the Bible and read as if it held the solution to his problem. Upon opening it he read these words, “Not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying, but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.” This encounter would be the turning point that would lead him to Christian conversion.
