Jonah and the whale is a widely known story in the Bible. God had sent Jonah to Ninevah, however Jonah decided to disobey and traveled on a ship with a different destination in mind. The ship was hit with a terrible storm that Jonah knew only God could have created. Jonah jumped into the sea, but he did not drown because God sent a whale to swallow Jonah. Jonah found peace in the whale and prayed to God for three days until he was back safe on dry land. Jonah had a lot to thank God for, and because of that he would support animal rights… especially saving the whales!

If you have ever been in a traditional tourist shop while on vacation, you know the funny gimmicks and phrases they use to put on everything from t-shirts and beach towels to mugs. Last time I went to Florida, my family members proudly picked up a shirt saying “I went to Florida, and all I got was this stupid t-shirt!” The phrase is common throughout tourist destinations as a silly joke. Churchgoers may take a funny spin on this phrase, by sarcastically noting how they “only got eternal salvation!” How lucky are we to be able to have a God who actually gave us so much!

The story of Peter denying his relationship with Jesus shows us that we all make mistakes. When Jesus and his disciples finished the Last Supper, Jesus revealed that all of his disciples would abandon him during his time of trial. Peter vowed he would not, however later in the night Peter would deny Jesus three times. After reconnecting with Jesus after the resurrection, Peter reaffirmed his faith and loyalty to the Lord three times. Jesus had forgiven Peter.

Peter’s bumper sticker is a humble and inspirational one, showing us all that even though we can never be perfect, we will always be forgiven by our Christ.

We all have seen a bumper sticker with 13.1, 26.2 or the like on the back of cars, symbolizing how many miles a person has accomplished in a race. However, there are some funny tricksters that have put a new twist to this classic by saying “13.1 hours of binge watching Netflix” and “26.2 Oreos I’ve eaten in one sitting.”

But Jesus? He surpasses all of these accomplishments after surviving 40 days living in the desert. That is one feat to be proud of! Jesus was able to spend his 40 days fasting in the Judaean Desert, and is now why Christians celebrate Lent.

The Israelites have so much to be thankful for after all the amazing things Moses was able to do for them through the help of the Lord. After the ten plagues, Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. After 40 years of wondering in the desert, they were able to find the Promised Land.

It is only fitting that the Israelites celebrate Moses on their bumper sticker by encouraging others to cheer at the sight of Moses name as well!

Elijah was a great prophet of Israel that stood up boldly for God in a time when a false idol had swept his land. God was impressed by Elijah and his dedication to his faith. Elijah knew, however, it was time to pass the torch down to his son Elisha. Elisha wanted to be twice the man of God that Elijah had been. Elijah replied “if you see God take me, you will get your wish.”

Moment later, horses and a chariot of fire came down from the sky in a giant whirlwind. The chariot came and took Elijah off to heaven. This left his son to become the next great prophet.

Elijah had one stylish ride to heaven, and if we were him, it would be fun to show that off on a bumper sticker too!

It’s very popular now to show off your family by putting different stickers representing each member on your car. How would Jesus do this? Jesus thought of His disciples as His close family. However, Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples’, Judas. Judas took a bribe of thirty pieces of silver by identifying Jesus with a kiss.

Because of this, Jesus would have had a spot open in his family for a new disciple.

Methuselah was the man reported to have lived the longest in the Bible dying at the age of 969! Methuselah was the grandfather of Noah and died just seven days before the beginning of the Great Flood.

We all drive a little more safely around cars when they have signs posted “baby on board.” Shouldn’t we be doing the same for our senior citizens and elders? At the age of 969, Methuselah may have a little difficulty navigating the roads.

Noah famously built a giant ark in the book of Genesis in which God spare Noah, his family, and all of the world’s animals from a flood to cleanse the Earth. Seven days before the deluge, God told Noah to enter the ark with his household and the animals. The story goes on to describe the ark being afloat throughout the flood and subsequent receding of the waters before it came to rest on the Mountains of Ararat. So, next time you need a boat… we Noah guy!

Moses was chosen by God to receive the 10 Commandments from Mount Sinai, as found in the book of Exodus. Moses was called to the mountain where he found the Lord, cloaked in fire, who wrote the 10 Commandments on tables of stone. Out of these, the Lord had made the standard of holiness through these laws.

The Lord also told Moses what people would need to do if they broke any of the laws. Leading us to the bumper sticker, where we learned that the 10 Commandments were for everyone and weren’t something we could simply pick and choose to obey!

Jesus’ disciples worked hard to share the words and teachings of Jesus Christ. They recruited many new followers of the Lord and encouraged others to go out and share their new love of Christ. Because of this, it’s only fitting that the disciples would ask someone tailgating their car if they also would follow Jesus as closely!

The twelve disciples worked hard to share their message and sometimes, humor is the best way to go about it.

If you have ever been to the beach, you have seen people rocking hats and t-shirts with the cheerful saying “Life is Good!” Having a positive attitude while you go through the day is a great outlook to have on life.

But what is even better than that? Eternal life is! Jesus praises on how we will be amazed, honored and humbled by the kingdom of heaven! If we accept Jesus into our life, we won’t only have a good life; we will also have eternal life. This is definitely something to celebrate and share with others!
