For Unto Us a Savior is Born!
In the days that followed, Mary took her newborn to the Temple. There, she had no way of knowing that an elderly, righteous man named Simeon was waiting patiently on the Lord – who had promised he would see the Messiah before he died. “When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to be dedicated, Simeon met them in the temple courts,” writes Vining, “and was overjoyed with God’s faithfulness to keep his promise. In his song, called the Nunc Dimittis, he cries, ‘Lord, now your servant can depart in peace, For my eyes have seen your salvation, prepared in the presence of all peoples, a revelation to all the nations, and glory to Israel’( Luke 2:29-32) . And you can hear it for yourself in the animated film. “The Promise: Birth of the Messiah.”
