In his book,Domestic Violence: What Every Pastor Needs To Know, Reverend Al Miles challenges the church to honestly appraise the situation of domestic abuse. The book reads, “Abuse, whether physical, sexual, verbal, or emotional, cannot possibly depict God’s attitudes or actions.” It makes sense that clergy would tread lightly as not to put the church under scrutiny for invading families or worse causing divorce.
