Blessed are You, Chai... for Making Me Yisra-El
Yisra-El does, in one sense, represent all who wrestle with God, because that's the meaning of the word. For some, a God of mystery involves frustration. For others, it involves adventure. When we ponder how God works in the world, when we struggle to experience God, when we question God's personal involvement with us, we're already in the process of deep connection. As a Sufi once said, “Our longing is the connection.” One who wrestles with God will be broken open in a million different, vibrant ways.
