Ahithophel was an adviser to King David, whose life took a horrific turn. It's a tragic story. When someone told David that Ahithophel had turned traitor and was now backing David’s usurper son, Absalom, David prayed, "O LORD, let Ahithophel give Absalom foolish advice!" Well, here’s a clue. Although he was one of King David's most trusted advisers and was a very gifted and recognized personality, his name means “brother of insipidity, dullness, stupidity, impiety, irreverence and disrespect.”
