Relationships can be rewarding and fulfilling, but they can also be testy and challenging. When your heart is involved, your deepest needs tend to come to the surface. When tensions rise and feelings get hurt in your relationship, you may wonder if God is sending you warning. You also may be wondering if the enemy is attacking your relationship. The Bible is clear about the spiritual battle around us. Paul writes, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world and against the spiritual forces of the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12). When you feel like you’ve been living right for God in your relationship, but something continues to get in the way, you may ask yourself is this God’s way of letting you know that you shouldn’t be in that relationship, or if it’s the devil trying to sabotage your relationship. No matter what forces are at play in your relationship, it’s important that you turn to God and ask Him to bless and guide you concerning your relationship. When You Need Patience

Patience is imperative in every relationship and is the key to longevity. It’s the indispensable virtue for loving better and living together day by day in peace without constant struggles to change the other to our liking. Patience in relationships really begins with the individual. Our daily routine gives us ample opportunity to practice patience more. Within every relationship, patience means discerning what needs to be changed and what needs to be tolerated. If you’re looking to be more patient in your relationship, pray this prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for this marriage. Thank You for guiding us to where we are today. You say that love is patient and kind, yet there are days when I’m anything but patient, and I’m hardly as kind as I should be. Help me to recognize how Your loving compassion and grace has reached down to us more than we have ever deserved. Teach me to give more than I deserve and forgive before I’ve been given. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.

When You Need Validation

Invalidation is a pattern in which one partner subtly or directly puts down the thoughts, feelings or character of another. It can take many forms in your relationship. It may occur when you’re expecting praise for some positive action that is ignored by your spouse, while some minor problem is highlighted. Invalidating your spouse is one of the best ways to quickly destroy trust and confidence in your relationship. A relationship plagued with this habit will not last long. If you don’t feel good enough as a husband, pray this prayer: Heavenly Father, today I don’t feel good enough. Please help me to see that I am good enough and that You’re continually working on me. Help me to recognize my true worth and value especially when I feel put down. You have already started a good work in my heart and I pray that it will be completed. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.

When You Want to Develop More Intimacy

If you’re married, it’s important to know the importance of intimacy in your relationship. Next to your relationship with God, marriage should be the most intimate relationship you experience in life. It should be more intimate than a friendship and many other important relationships in your life. But sadly, many people feel alone in marriage. Because man is body, soul and spirit, married couples must cultivate every aspect of their being in order to develop intimacy. They must cultivate their friendship, their sexuality and their spirituality in marriage, which represent soul, body and spirit. If one aspect is missing, couples will lack the intimacy God desires. If you want to develop greater intimacy with your spouse, pray this prayer: Heavenly Father, I love my marriage and I love the life that we share. Please help me to initiate intimacy in my marriage more often. I understand that my spouse needs to be fulfilled by me and I need him/her. When You’ve Sinned Against Each Other

If you want to revolutionize your relationship and the love you have for each other, start with a little repentance. As we grow as believers, it’s easy to put up a façade. Often, we aren’t willing to admit where we are spiritually because we have become skilled at hiding our weaknesses. But for Christian couples who want a strong relationship, there comes a time when we have to be honest with ourselves. When you’ve sinned against each other in your relationship, pray this prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that during conflict my partner and I would not sin against each other. Help us to remain calm, kind and compassionate. I pray that we would not allow conflict to tear us down or hurt our relationship in any way. I also pray that we would experience a quick recovery after conflicts. Heal our hearts and show us a way to mend our relationship. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.

When You Need to Build Up From Hurt

All the bad things we go through in relationships can prepare us for something even better. Our trials give us strength to navigate through anything we experience in relationship with honesty. Any anguish you experience in relationship has the power to destroy it. The key here is seeing the opportunity to grow in every hurt. When you need to build up from hurt, pray this prayer: Heavenly Father, relationships sometimes can be so challenging. I love my partner, but there are times when we rub each other emotionally raw. Our words and actions are not edifying, often leaving us hurt or angry. Today, I pray that You build us up from our heart. I also pray for reconciliation. May Your Holy Spirit empower us to say “I’m sorry,” and “I forgive you,” so that we can let it go and move on. May we validate each other, encourage each other and pray for one another. When You Feel Tempted

Temptation isn’t the sin; it’s when we swallow the bait and act on temptation that it becomes sin. And it can destroy our relationships and our lives. One foolish choice made in a moment of weakness can wipe out years of integrity. You may not think it takes much courage to face your temptations, but it does. Accountability is a proactive step toward never underestimating the power of temptation. If you’re feeling especially tempted and vulnerable right now, pray this prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray for my relationship right now. Please guard my relationship with my spouse and protect us against elements that tempt or taunt us to ruin what we have. Convict our hearts when we are wrong or unrighteous, fill us with the passion to get better and bless us with a deep love for each other. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
