A blessing, according to the dictionary, is something that promotes or continues happiness, well-being or prosperity. As a Christian, you can feel the ultimate blessing of God’s love. The evidence of the Lord’s love and desire to bless His children’s lives can be found throughout the Bible. God choosing to give His one and only Son as a sacrifice for our sins is just one of the many blessing we can find.

Sometimes, people equate blessings with an abundance of money or possessions. While having material things can be a blessing, according to the Bible a blessed life includes so much more. The blessings of the Lord touch upon every area of a person’s life: body, mind, and spirit.

"I have grace and mercy."

”It is God’s will to be gracious and merciful to me”. – Psalm 145:8

God shows both mercy and grace, but they are not the same. Mercy withholds a punishment we deserve; grace gives a blessing we don't deserve. God shows us mercy each day by forgiving us for our sins without forcing us to go through some penalty. He continues this amazing demonstration of love by also showing us grace. The word translated "grace" in the New Testament comes from the Greek word charis, which means “favor, blessing, or kindness.” We can all extend grace to others; but when the word grace is used in connection with God, it takes on a more powerful meaning. Grace is God choosing to bless us rather than curse us as our sin deserves. It is His benevolence to the undeserving.

Our Father made you to be unique and beautiful, but He also made you to be like Him. Being “made in His image” means that we were made to resemble Him. This is not in the sense of God’s flesh and blood, but in the terms of mentally, morally, and spiritually. God gave our souls the ability to grow with the Holy Spirit and to live out a life eternally. We can turn away from God’s image, however each time we ask for forgiveness of our sins He begins to restore us. He is able to recreate us to be a “new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:24).

"I am spiritually strong."

Just by accepting Jesus into our life, we become more spiritually strong. We are filled with the spirit of the Lord, making us whole and rich. He enriches our heart with love, peace and wisdom. By building a relationship with the Lord, we can grow this spiritual strength. We can discover new parts of ourselves, learn about the special gifts He has given us, and see how we can be more Christ-like. Continually learn about the spirit and how you can apply Christianity into your life each and every day. The more you do, the more strength you will have.

God has shown us forgiveness for our sins, even if we feel like we haven’t deserved it. This is something Jesus taught early Christians to do as well. Forgiveness of others, even when it might be hard, is part of the Christian lifestyle. Showing love, compassion and kindness will always be stronger than living with grudges, hate and bitterness. Remaining angry at someone who has wronged you will only leave space for hatred to grow in your heart. We must ask that God bless us with the ability to forgive others in our lives, and with His help we will succeed.
