With all the anger and hate in the world, it's hard to see the good. As the human race becomes increasingly filled with empty diversions, we hope and pray God will send an angel our way. In the Bible, Paul wrote about celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies, "But the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. So it is with the resurrection from the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power." But sometimes we will discover angels in our mists. It is pretty cool if you stop to think of it. They can show up as a neighbor when the car breaks down to help. It can be a stranger who gives you a prophecy and leaves it on a napkin for you to read. An angel doesn't have to have wings or oblige during a tragic event. They are seen as gentle people who are always there for others, and they are subtle in the acts of kindness that they provide. We have a part to play in the story. Let’s look at 5 ways on how you can be an angel on earth.

Be a Community

God wants to alleviate the suffering of others and create a true sense of community amongst humankind. He can put you on someone's heart to help them during a trial or a need. On a mom's online board, someone posted that a friend's son was going to celebrate his birthday alone since he didn't have friends. His autism was getting in the way of his socializing. Since kids don't understand this, they shunned him. People in the church came to the rescue and send anonymous birthday cards with encouraging words for the boy. There was another story that went viral, when a boy invited classmates to come to his birthday, not one of them showed up. His mother was heartbroken and shared the story on social media. About 15 kids showed up along with other supporters.

You Don't Need Money

You don't need a lot of money to be an angel. As a matter of fact, all you have to do is be kind. Simple, right? Write a note to encourage someone today and send them flowers from your garden if available. You can drop them off to surprise them. Make a list of the people who you know who could use assistance and compose a letter by hand offering support. Be charitable by collecting clothes for others and donate them to a church. You might know of someone that needs or who wants an outfit that they can't afford. You can buy this anonymously and put a note in it to encourage them. Money can be a powerful mechanism to transform the world, but you don't have to be affluent to make a difference. Jesus didn't, and look how He reshaped the world.

Offer Compliments

Sitting in a Starbucks drive-thru, one of the workers was getting barked at by another customer. With not much time to step in, a friend called the manager and praised on how well the barista controlled the conflict. The girl really needed the encouragement that week, she just flew in from her dad's funeral. The power of words really has a benefit in life. If we are seeking to change the world we want to use the most effective means as possible and our words can perform this task. They also help our minds. Dr. Andrew Newberg, a neuroscientist at Thomas Jefferson University, wrote the book, Words Can Change Your Brain. When we use positive words like “peace," he suggested we can modify our brain capacities by increasing cognitive reasoning and strengthening areas in our frontal lobes and the motivational centers of the brain.

Support Parents

Most of the time you can put your feelers out at daycare to help parents with children. Pick up several gift cards from a coffee place for 5 dollars and leave it for parents when they pick up their children or drop them off in the morning. Most of the time, you will hear of parents struggling with balancing it all. Turn the gossip around and use it for good. Maybe offer your pool for a play date and hire a sitter to watch the kids while the parents relax. You can still do this anonymously through a friend or a spouse. Maybe you know of a child who doesn't have much and is going to school dirty. Make a box for them with goodies and some new clothes and leave it at the principle's office. Pray that God would direct you to the people that need help and use wisdom when moving forward.

Help Charities

You can donate bags of warm clothes for the homeless and for other charities. Keep these in your car and switch it out during the change of the seasons so you always have these available when you meet people in need. You can also leave these at the shelter and you don't have to let others know it came from you. Drop off cards and office attire with an encouraging note to a women's shelter. Most shelters help women find jobs to help them get back on their feet. Sometimes even a small act of kindness can be an essential difference to them having the courage to move forward with their goals. Enlist an army of friends to help out and collect items from them as well. God can do magnificent things, but He wants us to get rolling as well.
