6 Easy Ways to Bond with Your Angels

You've got angels in your life, surrounding you all the time, whether you realize it or not. Guardian angels, archangels, helper angels—they are all committed to guiding and assisting you. Sound too good to be true? Well, there is a slight catch. While angels love you unconditionally and are completely devoted to you, they can offer you a lot more guidance and assistance when you exercise your free will and ask. That's because, just like angels, humans are powerful spiritual beings. We have been given free will by Spirit so that we may help navigate the course of our lives. Angels will always watch over you, but when you invite them into your life in a larger way via your free will, they can help you more often, and in more dramatic ways.

A perfect method for exerting your free will to develop more dynamic relationships with your angels is to bond with them, just as bonding with a friend, relative or coworker deepens and strengthens that relationship. Bonding with angels lets the angels know you are aware of their presence in your life, that you are grateful for their help, and that you want more of their love, healing, guidance and assistance. And remember, just like with your best friend, bonding with angels can be simple and really fun!

Get a book on angels, listen to a podcast on angels or watch a video by an angel expert. Angels are a fascinating subject, and there is a ton of information out there about the divine lives of angels. Remember, angels are nondenominational, so spiritual scholars of all walks of life are researching, working with and writing about angels. How do you know if what you read or hear from an angel expert is true? Run the information through your own filter of intuition. Does the information feel true? Does the information about angels make you comforted or inspired? Does the angel expert seem like they are spreading a message of unconditional love? If so they are probably genuinely tuning into the angels. Read an article online about angels in history, how Joan of Arc spoke with Archangel Michael or more recently how angels visit people in hospitals or in their dreams.

Include Angels in Your Prayers

The angels really want to me to remind you about the importance of prayer. Prayer can be easy: a quick thought, a line scribbled in your journal, a request whispered before bed or at your home altar. To bond with your angels, start off your prayer by simply saying, "Dear angels." If there is a specific angel you want to address, like one of your guardian angels or an archangel, you can personalize the prayer by using the angel's name. Addressing a prayer to your angels does not block anyone else in the world of Spirit—like ascended masters, spirit guides, departed loved ones or even Spirit itself—from aiding you. Spirit hears every prayer and will send the best representative(s) to help you. However, when you address your prayers to angels or include them in your prayers, you guarantee angels will also be helping. Addressing prayers to angels is a powerful use of your free will. When you specifically ask the angels to help you with something, you are giving them the power to use their power to the fullest. You are letting the angels know you realize they're on your team, and you're giving them permission to come off the bench and take the field. When you address a prayer to the angels, expect to see some extra support for your cause, even if it’s simply the ability to feel peaceful during challenging times.

Learn Your Angels Names & Personalities

Calling your angels by their names, and knowing what each individual angel's strengths are, will help you develop much more intimate, and productive, relationships with your angels. The archangels have names you are already familiar with, like Archangel Uriel and Archangel Gabriel. But your guardian angels have names too, or rather nicknames so you can call on them individually. Everyone has at least a few guardian angels. To find out their names, go to a quiet spot and clear your mind. Then think or say aloud, "I'd like to know the name of one of my guardian angels." The first name that comes to your mind was placed there by an angel. If no names come to your mind, choose your guardian angel's nickname yourself. Angel names can be majestic like "Celestine," or more common like "Linda." Discovering the personalities of your angels takes a bit more time, but as you work closely with your angels, and begin to distinguish one from the other, their personalities will become more obvious. Maybe your lead guardian angel has a very nurturing energy, while another of your guardian angels is more scholarly and intellectual. The archangels all have very strong personalities. Knowing that Archangel Michael is a protector, you might call on him to stand guard while you sleep if it's your first night in a new house. Helper angels all have very distinct personalities too. If you call on a helper angel who specializes in social media, she will probably have a bubbly, high-energy personality, while a helper angel who specializes in emotional healing might have a calmer, more serious vibe.

Create an Angel Altar in Your Home

You might already have a home altar—a space in your house, apartment, or room designated to Spirit. You may pray there, perform ceremonies and rituals there, or simply enjoy your altar as a subtle reminder of the Divine. If space allows, you can create a separate angel altar, or you can simply incorporate some angelic elements into your current home altar. Angel altars help you bond with angels because having a visual reminder of angels in your home will keep angels on your mind. The altar does not have to be big: my "crystal garden" (a collection of large crystals and small candles) on my kitchen table is only 15 inches by 8 inches, and your angel altar can be a similar size, or even smaller. Do you like angel oracle cards? Pick one from your favorite deck that has a pretty picture of an angel on it and place the card on your altar. Feathers usually remind people of angels and can be another element in your angel altar. If you have angel-themed jewelry, like a pair of wing earrings, set them on your altar when you aren't wearing them. Angel figurines and pictures of angels draw by children in your life will find the perfect home on your angel altar.

Get in Touch with Your Intuition

Your intuition, or sixth sense, is one of your angels’ favorite ways to communicate with you. Why? Because it is so direct. When angels send you messages through friends and family or through synchronicities (like seeing the same book or person everywhere), there is a third party involved. But when angels send you messages through your intuition—like when you get an inspiring thought, a gut instinct, a sudden understanding of a complex situation, images appearing in the mind’s eye, prophetic dreams, words forming in the mind or inner ear—the information is coming straight from an angel to you, which is a very intimate exchange. Ask angels to send you messages this way, and then be on the lookout for intuitive communication from your angels. The more you ask for messages from angels, and the more you act on this angelic guidance, the more intuitive hints you will receive from your angels. This is a very exciting way to bond with angels because the intuitive guidance an angel gives you is always designed to help you live at your full potential.

Journal About the Angelic Guidance You Receive

Your journal is an ideal place to bond with your angels. Write your angels a letter in your journal explaining what you need help with. Pouring out all your emotions around this subject to your angels can be very healing and cathartic. Then write down all the angelic guidance you receive about this issue. The plum opportunities sent your way, the helpful people who appear out of the blue, the intuitive guidance you get as feelings, words, or visions. As an angel intuitive, I communicate with angels daily, both in my own life and when I am giving a client a reading. And angels have told me that they send us far more signs than we realize. If you suspect something or someone was sent by your angels, you are probably right.
