ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)
In recent months, the “ice bucket challenge” has become a viral social media sensation, with countless celebrities, politicians, even pets getting ice water dumped on their heads to bring awareness to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), a condition that affects nerve cells and the spinal cord. In the past few weeks, the challenge has raised $88.5 billion and counting. While there is no cure for the disease, many celebrities have taken to the cause. Actor and comedian Ben Stiller has been an advocate for project ALS, a non-profit dedicated to collaborative ALS research and finding a cure.
