Ghost Boy Breaks His Silence
You may or may not have heard the story of Martin Pistorius. But, if you have it's one you'll never forget and if you haven't - be prepared to be inspired and discover a newfound appreciation for life.
At 12-years-old Pistorius was diagnosed with cryptococcal meningitis and tuberculosis of the brain. He fell into a coma that lasted three years and the doctors didn't believe that he would ever wake up. Then at the age of 16 (1992), Pistorius began to regain consciousness and compared his senses to that of a baby. Then at the age of 19, Pistorius regained full consciousness and awareness. He was unable to tell the rest of the world - instead he was forced to lay there silent.
Then at 25-years-old Pistorius' caretaker discovered his ability to recognize the world taking place around him and him moved to another facility. After intense therapy and effort, Pistorius was able to communicate again and be present. Since his recovery Pistorius has written a book about his challenging experience, married and acts as a free lance web designer and developer.
Pistorius shares his story and tells us about the long journey that he had to undergo to break his silence and exist again.
