Concentration camps were organized after Hitler came to power with the help of local police, citizens, deeming what would be the "Final solution of the Jewish question."
By 1939 Germany invaded neighboring Poland created ghettos in cities where thousands of Jews worked and lived in cramped spaces, with their resources cut. It was the costliest war in human lives. There are many accounts of people risking their own lives to save others. German housewives, businessmen, people of different faiths, and countless others worked to help people during WWII.
