If we will humble ourselves
If we are to fulfill God's desire for His church, we must build on the strengths of the West by learning - and adapting - all we can from our brothers and sisters in the persecuted regions of the world.
Persecution often results in pain, but that same pain can bring a perspective of who we are - or who we can be - in Christ, through God's great mercy.
Authors Carl Moeller and David Hegg believe that "the persecuted church is God's gift to us in the West."
The understanding of God enjoyed by the persecuted church, their reverence for His Word, their dependence on Him, their sincere worship, their daily immersion in authentic community, and their unbridled generosity of spirit, write the authors, can be tremendous resources for us ...
... if we will humble ourselves and admit that we can learn from Third World believers - who have been through the fire.
