Templeton never retired. Instead, he turned his focus on the “big questions” of life. He established the Templeton Foundation to support and invest in advancing spirituality. Templeton brought together theologians and scientists to see if they could discover what he called, "new spiritual information." Although these "spiritual ideals" were widely criticized, today scholars are still studying many of the concepts. Templeton also established the prestigious, faith-based Templeton Prize, the first of which was awarded to Mother Theresa.
