When I first started working as a medium, I had a client ask me, “What is my dad doing in heaven?” I remember thinking what a great question that was. Are we given a harp, a halo and a cloud? Or do we return right back to Earth in an attempt to balance karma? So I asked her father what he did on the other side. He showed me that he was helping souls get ready to be born again to families on Earth. My client smiled and said, “That sounds like dad. He was an OBGYN for forty years, so of course he’s still helping babies.” Ever since that reading, I always ask people in heaven what they do over there and the answers have been surprising, touching and enlightening.

They Help Save Souls

When people pass due to drugs and alcohol, they often want to help others here going through the same thing. They can put recurring thoughts into an addict’s head about sobriety or reaching out for help. A friend of the addict’s may spontaneously bump into him and invite him to an AA meeting. Or he might be at a bookstore when a book on overcoming addiction falls off the shelf. Many people who pass over from suicide also want to reach out to struggling souls on Earth who are contemplating the same fate. They can work with the person’s thoughts to encourage therapy or asking for help. They can also send messages through dreams. And they can facilitate a series of coincidences. For example, they can have their “client” on Earth see a documentary on the pain suicide causes the surviving family members followed by a concerned friend calling to see if everything is ok.

They Protect Their Families

Each family has at least one guardian whose main job is to protect the family. The family guardian is a loved one who feels very connected to the family. They can help family members going through relationship, financial or medical hardships. Family guardians will stay very close to us here on earth. It’s important to remember that if an event, even a tragedy, is part of our soul plan, they family guardian can not prevent this from happening. But they can help us get through it. If a family member is supposed to deal with a bout of cancer, for example, the family guardian can’t prevent this but they can make sure that the best doctors are seen and the best possible care received. The power of prayer and asking for help is very important to allowing them to work with us. God gives us free will, so we have to ask for their help.

They Have Fun

The other side is our true home. We can meet up with old friends, see family members, go to concerts, travel, and just enjoy ourselves. Most of us will choose a job to help us continue to grow spiritually. A musician on the other side might choose to inspire songwriters here on earth or he might spend his time giving concerts on the other side. A scientist may continue her work from the other side by inspiring scientists here on earth. Of course, some souls choose to do nothing at all but rest. And that’s okay too. There are rest homes on the other side for people who died abruptly or tragically. These souls need time to understand what’s happened to them and to heal. Other souls choose to spend time a rest home because their life on earth was just tiring and they need and deserve the time of rest.
