Tip 1
When a loved one – whether a sick child or an elderly relative -- is in the hospital and needs you nearby, you can find yourself making excuses to “treat” yourself at the lobby candy machine. However, this is a good time to eliminate sugar. As wonderful as sweets are during such times, they will only add to the stress of waiting. Perhaps one of the hardest things to keep in balance when you are faced with interruptions in your life are your healthy and eating habits. Susan Brown, BeliefNet author, recently went through a time at the bedside of a relative. Her story, “What to do when you can’t H.A.L.T.,” will help to keep you in that balance.
