Go, girl!
Without an education, it’s hard for women to be independent and contribute financially to their family. Of the 775 million adults worldwide who cannot read, two-thirds are women. For these women, it’s harder to hold property since they can’t read land titles. It’s also harder for them to start or own a business to help their families pay for food, housing, and clothing. And these women often are very financially dependent on male relatives, so if violence occurs in the household, they often can’t leave.
