"Believe that God blesses the marriage that He has made," writes Bette in Star Crossed. "Richard and I have enjoyed nearly a half-century in a committed, faithful, loving union. We know that God is present in our lives and in our life together. We have good health, good friends, and all we need. He has taught us how to pray, and then answered every one of those prayers. In 1968, I printed the words to the Lord’s Prayer on an orange balloon for Richard as a first step to common worship. Today, my heart swells with gratitude every time I hear him recite it aloud at Mass. I rejoice at how far we have come in our interfaith journey to God."
