Five: Let Reading Take Priority. No one is saying you should turn off your TV, or ban all Internet from your home. But it can be helpful to make space for reading in your family, to let it take priority from time to time. For instance, you can designate Tuesdays as “Family Reading Night” where you all gather in one room to read. Also, Eoin says, “Allow your kids to stay up 30 minutes extra – but only if they read.” This communicates both the importance of reading in life, and gives a kid-sized perk to encourage the reading habit.
