Candy Corn
andy Corn will always be the classic Halloween treat.
Starting over a century ago, in the 1880’s, candy corn was created by candymaker George Renninger, who worked at the Wunderlee Candy Company in Philadelphia.
The Goelitz Confectionary Company, now called Jelly Belly Candy Co., would later acquire the creamy, tricolor candy, turning it into one of the most popular candies of today.
It is known to be manufactured the same way and the original recipe is still used. Nowadays, there are variations of the white, orange, and yellow kernel based on holidays other than Halloween. Plenty of people have been inspired by this fun confection, making candy corn-themed cupcakes, cake pops, and Oreos.
You can even start snacking the day before Halloween, October 30, which is National Candy Corn Day.
