Some families will place corn kernels around each placemat on their dinner table at Thanksgiving. At a designated time, usually at the end of the meal or around dessert time, each individual takes time to acknowledge five things they were thankful for throughout the year. J.R. Briggs wrote on their blog post how meaningful this tradition has been, saying “In all the years our family has been doing this, I don’t believe we’ve ever done this without crying. Each year we are overwhelmed with how much we have been blessed in the past twelve months.
