Remember to Look to the Future
It can be very hard to be excited for future milestones, because they are a reminder that your loved one is not there to celebrate with you. However, as your child grows and develops, it’s important they know their milestones and accomplishment have meaning. Holidays, first days of school, dance recitals and sports games can be bittersweet times. Try to find ways to celebrate them without forgetting your loved one.
Helping children work through grief is hard, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed. No parent handles it perfectly, and there are many resources that can help. Whether it’s a pastor or counselor you trust, a grief share class or book, find something to help you on the journey.
