Break the Ice
Being an outsider can be intimidating to an introverted child, especially if they are joining a group or team that has been together for a while. If your child has apprehension about meeting new kids, try to get to know some of the kids ahead of time via play dates, a movie, or grabbing an ice cream cone to break the ice. Make sure to have conversation starters, snacks, and games to ensure an easygoing atmosphere for everyone. That way, your child will already have some friendships within the group before the first meeting or practice.
