What the World Needs Now and Always
As the teen observed her mother and the dog play, her face remained hard, her look vacant...The mother, praying the dog could give her daughter some sense of peace, asked Jill a simple quesion, "Could you put him on my daughter's bed so she can really see him?"
The schoolteacher got a towel, placed it beside the frail girl, and lifted Dakotah up onto the bed. The trained dog remained still, his large brown eyes locked onto the patient until her hand tentatively eased down between his ears. He then nosed forward and licked her cheek. Surprised, the girl's brown eyes grew as large as saucers, and after lifting her bald head from the pillow, she studied the dog, smiled, and then giggled.
