What Guys Don’t Like About Dating l Men and Dating

Once-upon-a-time marriage was the norm in America, but a shift started and curtailed the velocity starting in 1976. Today, single people make up the majority, which is strange because online dating services, dating applications and technology, should've beefed up the number of married couples in the nation. “It’s actually probably easier to meet people now than ever before,” Eric Klinenberg, a Sociology Professor at New York University and the author of Going Solo: The Extraordinary Rise and Surprising Appeal of Living Alone shared with pri.org. “But one big issue is people today are really looking for their soul mate," he added. "And they’re not going to compromise.” Years ago, there was a rush to get married and to have a family. Now people are still growing up in their 30s and living at home with their parents. Yet, for some men, dating can be harsher than living in their mom's basement. Dating is an ungracious world to navigate and some men are not charmed by its complexities. When it comes to dating there are certain women who make it harder. Ladies, if you can't understand where all the men are, check out the following reasons why some guys are remaining out of the game.

The Pressure

Dating can cause a lot of pressure on anyone, but as a heads-up, men are not thinking about the next date when you meet. They approach it more light-heartily and want to relax and to enjoy the company. Some guys may have a mom pressuring them at home to get married and to give them grandkids, they don't need this burden from another female. Many times women will start to become clingy if they feel a guy is acting too casual in this instance. For example, after going out for awhile, a guy might suggest that his lady hangout without him so he can go out with the boys. If she flips out, he is going to shut down. If having a life outside of a relationship is a problem and if it becomes a lecture or an argument, she's too possessive and thinking about the next date is not on the immediate agenda.

The Expense

Another thing guys don't like is the cost of dating. If a woman never offers to pitch in for a movie after months of dating, this can be a drain and a reason not to date for guys. According to a Match.com survey, 50 percent of men assume they need to pay and 36 percent of women agreed that a man should be paying for their first date. After the first date, things might need to change. If you're dating a materialistic person or can't keep up with the costs of dating, it can really empty the pockets, cause stress and weaken the relationship. Dayana Yochim is a consumer finance specialist for NerdWallet and spoke to the Washington Post about finding a balance when you're dating. “If finding love and dating is on your high-priority list and you’re feeling the financial pinch from what you’re spending, then look elsewhere in your budget,” Yochim said. So, ladies, take it easy with the demands.

The Texting

For the most part, texting, checking social media or talking on the phone is not allowed unless it's an emergency during a date. A guy wants undivided attention, so don't take selfies. This might be overlooked in the beginning, but this gets old quick. Another word of advice, don't over text a guy. Most of them don't want to be texted 100 times during a day. "I would definitely say my limit is like 4 or 5 texts," Rich, 33, shared with yourtango.com. "I don't know what you're saying, but I'm pretty sure 99 percent of the time you can wait for my response." Another hint about texting is making sure to text the right guy as many ladies were busted flirting over the phone with someone else. No wonder guys dislike dating in the modern world.

The Lies

People lie during the initial phases of dating. We're talking about the white lies people say such as that they read a lot, exercise and they love cats when in fact they don't like anything of the sort. Match.com found that the biggest lie told during a courtship was the number of sexual partners a person had. "Twenty-four percent of men and women are likely to have lied about the number of sexual partners they've had. But while women are more likely to decrease their number, men will usually both lower and increase their numbers." People lie for various reasons because they want to impress the other person or they don't want them to see all their flaws. Any lie is not healthy and deception is not a great way to start a relationship. Like any woman, a man doesn't want to be lied to. If people can't be real, then move on as the truth will come out.

The Games

The games women can play can be fierce. No matter if it's gentle manipulation or more calculating, playing head games is not cool. She might talk about other guys and not take phone calls when she is out. She might share about guys she finds attractive and not hide it. It could be to test self-confidence as women don't like a guy that they can control. She may say “Let’s do something next weekend.” But the vague plans are part of the game and the guy doesn't understand what transpired. "Finally, cut to Friday or Saturday, and your date, it turns out, has made other plans. You feel frustrated because you’ve been strung along," reported Dr. Seth Meyers, the founder of eharmony.com. Don't play head games with a guy. If you are not interested just be honest about it and go about your business.
