No One is Perfect

Air brushed perfections are displayed on magazine covers, billboards, and commercials on TV. As a young woman, viewing beauty as a wafer thin model can be brainwashing and cause teenagers to question their body image. We need to teach teenage girls that everyone has a different body type – and that is okay. It’s crucial that we instill the capabilities of technology within our young girls and help them understand that what they’re viewing is probably digitally enhanced. If we do not help them wrap their heads around the concept of model perfection, then they’ll continue to have self-esteem issues that are related to an idea of flawlessness that doesn’t really exist.

Your Heart Will Get Broken

Regardless if you’re watching a Disney fairytale princess or a sitcom on TV, there is almost always a damsel in distress who gets swept off of her feet my prince charming. We must teach our teenage girls that we shouldn’t compare real life to a script written fairytale. We must instill that everything happens for a reason, regardless if it’s true love or heart break. Instead of living vicariously through a fictional character, we must teach our teenagers how to love and to never settle. We must teach them that your heart will get broken, it will hurt but it’s not the end of the world. As dismal as it may seem, there is a happily ever after awaiting but you have to be patient and allow life to run its course.
