Former monk James Finley left home at the age of 18 to study with Thomas Merton at the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky. He has been a student of contemplative prayer for more than 20 years. He earned degrees from the University of Akron, Saint John College, and the Fuller Theological Seminary. Today he is a husband, father, writer, and psychotherapist in private practice.
