Billy Joel
In the 1970s Billy Joel was one of the hottest musicians around. His hits, including “Piano Man,” had launched him to superstardom. He was also in the middle of a very serious depression which was partially a result of his alcoholism, during which he attempted suicide by drinking furniture polish. After surviving, Joel admitted himself to a hospital in order to battle his depression. He overcame it, even including the words from his suicide note on his recovery hit “Tomorrow is Today.”
