When you’re concerned about a relative, a partner or a loved one who is stressed or depressed, you want to offer them comfort to combat their turmoil. It’s natural to want to understand what’s happening so you can develop a better understanding of what they are going through. But sometimes, in that effort, we end up saying the wrong things and creating more distance with that person we care so much about. You want to help, but they are not in a place to really hear what you are saying and what you end up saying may not be for in their best interest. If you want to help a stressed or depressed love one, there are some things you should say and some things you should not say. Here are seven things you should never say to someone when they are stressed out. If you do, you most likely will only make things worse.
