Hot Garlic Ginger Lemonade
At first when you read the word garlic, you’re probably thinking to yourself that the elixir is going to be disgusting but it’s actually not. The lemon is high in vitamin C and can sooth a sore throat. The garlic is a natural antimicrobial and helps to get rid of upper respiratory infections. The ginger will help alleviate upset stomach, chills and fever. And the astragalus root will him build up the immune system, while the cinnamon is known for its warming effect and assists in the digestion process.
You’ll need: 3 -4 fresh garlic cloves, chopped, grated or minced, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, peeled, then grated or minced, 3 pieces astragalus root, 2 teaspoons cinnamon chips or 1 small cinnamon stick, 4 cups boiling filtered water, 1 organic lemon juiced, and 2 tablespoons honey.
In a quart size jar, add garlic, ginger, astragalus root and cinnamon chips. Pour boiling water into jar and cover for 30 minutes. Strain liquid into another jar and add the juice of a lemon and sweetner of your choice into the garlic-ginger mixture. Drink 1 – 4 cups daily.
