The Food and Love Series
We constantly face decisions about food: what to eat, how to eat, how much to eat, when during the day to eat, and with whom to eat. In fact, the seemingly small act of eating “consumes” us. Fortunately, we can make the most of our eating experiences—if we choose. We can harness our meals to be full of meaning rather than just nutrients and calories—experiencing more than just full stomachs. The heart is considered the sovereign of our being-–the king or queen of our consciousness. When we feel compassionate or grateful, our heart fields open and expand. Sharing meals, giving and receiving food, and embracing eating and self-care practices open our hearts. Vegetables, whether leafy greens or cruciferous, in addition to foods high in heart-healthy fats, like avocadoes, keep our hearts in the castle of health. The images in this Food & Love Series are from the Nourish Your Whole Self Card Deck. They are meant to be inspirational, allowing you to regularly affirm healthy food and love expressions. Reflecting regularly on these affirmations can cultivate greater compassion for yourself and others.
